Blog Writing & Storytelling

This week I am going to focus on sharing with you ways to be a storyteller and why that is important when it comes to your blog. We all have a history. A past that has molded us into the person that we are in the present moment. A past that can either be difficult, happy, or most likely, a combination of both.

5 STAGES OF STORYTELLING

Blog writing and storytelling.

I will break these down for you in this post and talk about their importance.

STORYTELLING IN BLOG WRITING

There was a reason you began your blog. We all have a story to tell. We all have reasons for thinking, doing, and being who we are. Our blog writing represents all of those pieces of ourselves to the world. We want to explain, be ourselves, and show the world who we are through our words. Blogs are our way of telling our stories.

CONTEXT

This is where you begin your story. You showcase the setting, introduce the characters in the story, and give the background information. You will provide some riveting details to help with the storyline.

CONFLICT

Of course, this is the conflict of your story. Every story needs conflict to be a great story. Whether this means that you are having a conflict with someone else or internal conflict. This is the part that creates a reason to bring change. Where in your life has there been conflict? You will have had a conflict in more than one area of your life and more than likely, way more than one time. Conflict always arises.

CLIMAX

This is an exciting part of the story. Where the action or feelings are the most intense. The point in your story where you begin to focus on the conflict and begin to solve it. This is truly the turning point of the story that you are sharing.

CLOSURE

When the conflict has been resolved, closure comes. You know how this works in real life. Whether it be with a real person or an internal conflict, you work through it until you have closure and know what needs to be done. And then you do it.

CONCLUSION

This part of the story is when everything has been resolved and your blog reader has closure. You are able to showcase the change in the characters over the storyline and how life has changed and become a new normal.

So why do I talk about storytelling and blog writing?

When I began my blog, it was a way to showcase my healing journey. It went from sharing my story to helping others share theirs. I spoke about what worked for me and what didn’t. The steps that I took to heal myself from trauma. It wasn’t a fast process. It wasn’t a 1 blog post and it was done. My journey has taken me 5 years of blog writing. You can see the twists and turns that I have experienced. You can see the growth that has happened in those 5 years.

My blog is a piece of me. My blog is 1 long journey through finding myself and becoming who I am today. Because I was willing to share my story and integrate storytelling into my blog, I created a connection with my readers. Readers would walk away feeling less alone.

Storytelling is all about creating that connection. Bringing people closer together. Showing them that what they are going through has solutions even when they may not be able to see them. It gives your readers hope and joy.

Being yourself in your blog is one of the most important ways that you can gain readers. Readers who will trust you, follow you, and listen to what you are writing. Show them the messy and complicated. No one wants to read the perfect life of another person. It creates tension in our own lives. We want to know the real story. The parts of life that were hard but that you survived and overcame. The parts of life that show us why you are who you are today.

Don’t be afraid to share your story. Don’t be afraid to showcase your pain and your truth. This will make you a better blogger.

Are you looking for some empowering stories? Women who have shared their stories with me in the most amazing way. You will leave my site feeling empowered, energized, and know that the world can be a beautiful place.
