When I started blogging, I wasn’t consumed by reading the content of other bloggers. I didn’t have a favourite blogger or even a favourite website. I will admit that I had heard of blogging but I didn’t know much about it. I never really thought about blogging until 2014.
6 years later, I find that there are so many thoughts about blogging that are inaccurate. I thought it would be fun to ask those around me what they thought about bloggers.
10 THOUGHTS ABOUT BLOGGERS
Blogging isn’t a real job.
Now, how many times have you heard this? There are even moments when I question myself about what I do. Blogging doesn’t have to be a real job. For many, it is a hobby but there are many bloggers out there that are making 6 figures doing what they love. The best thing about today’s society is that you can make anything a job.
Bloggers have an endless supply of creative ideas.
I would love to think that I have creativity that will always be there when I need it but the fact is, that isn’t how it works. There will be moments when I can’t think of anything to write about or when I struggle to get the right words down on paper. Being a blogger doesn’t mean that you won’t get writer’s block. It means that on the days when you can’t write, you do it anyway. You work around your creativity blocks so that you can continue doing what you love.
Bloggers are amazing at writing.
I love that being a blogger doesn’t mean that you have to be a writing whiz. There are so many options out there to help you with grammar and spelling. There are different types of posts that you can write that help when you are not the greatest writer. Being a blogger just means that you have to keep working at it. The more you do it, the better you will get.
That bloggers make money only from ads on their website.
There are so many different options to make money with your blog. Yes, ads can be one of those ways to do that. I actually talk about different ways to make money with your blog in my post, 10 ways to monetize your blog.
Bloggers just write.
If you know a blogger, they are probably laughing at this statement. Bloggers do so much more than just writing. Yes, writing is obviously a huge part of blogging but that is just the surface.
You need to know SEO, keywords, how to create graphics, your ideal reader, and so much more. Bloggers aren't just putting words on a page. They are creating content for specific people.
Bloggers are consistently effective communicators.
This is one thought that I really didn't expect. A friend said this to me.
Yes, I do believe that bloggers have to be effective communicators but that doesn't mean we are. It means that we have crafted our blogging skills to get our message across.
There are times when I still struggle to get words out or to make sense of something that I am trying to say. I am a better communicator in my writing than I am in anything else.
Bloggers know where they are going.
I love this. I asked on my Facebook page what people thought of when they heard that someone was a blogger. This came up twice.
I would love to say that I know what I am doing most days but that isn't the case. I know what I want and I have goals set but the questions that flood my mind on a daily basis are never-ending.
I believe very strongly in what I do. I love what I do but blogging doe the past 6 years has taught me that life doesn't always work out the way we envision it to. I am a dreamer. A believer that if we all shared our true stories, the world would change for the better. There is doubt along every path.
Bloggers have an easy job.
Blogging is not easy. It is demanding, time-consuming, and so much more than writing. I can spend hours to days to sometimes weeks perfecting a blog post. And my job doesn't end there. I need to get the word out that I created a blog post. I need to share it with the world.
So I create more to send people to my blog. Blogging is a fulltime job or hobby. It isn't easy. The stress doesn't end because you published. It becomes new stress. It goes from stress about getting the right words out to now I need to get people to read it.
Bloggers worry about writing. They worry about word count. They worry that they have the right SEO. They worry if their keywords are helping or hurting them. They worry about their stats. They worry that their readers are learning. They worry about where the best place to share their blogs is
Bloggers are dreamers.
I am a dreamer but I am so much more than that. There were a few people that said this. They believed that bloggers are dreamers and that they know what they want. I love being classified as a dreamer.
To me, that means that I have a purpose. I have this big vision that I am trying to create and I totally do. Do you consider yourself to be a dreamer?
Bloggers have experience.
Another word that I love. I absolutely agree with this. However, I think that we all have experience and we all have a story to share. That is one of the reasons I started my original blog. I wanted to share my past, my story and do it on my own terms. Blogging allowed me to do that.
Bloggers will normally pick their niche because of their experience within that niche. It can be a passion or their business or even their job that they love. They take that experience and open up a world where they share it with those around them. The best bloggers are honest about the experiences that they are sharing. They show their real and honest truth. They share the struggles along with the wins.
I loved writing this blog post. It opened my eyes to what others think about what I do. It was surprisingly all really positive things. Maybe I just surround myself with amazing people. What are your thoughts about bloggers? I would love to hear them in the comments.
